Day One--A day in the life...
Hey everybody! I've been tossing around the idea of creating a Broadway geared website for a while. But unlike Broadway.com/Playbill.com (which are great sites for news, gossip, casting information, and theater tickets), I wanted to give people the inside, real 'behind-the-scenes' look at life in the Broadway & Entertainment industries.
It's great to read on Playbill.com that Jeremy Irons is playing King Arthur in the Hollywood Bowl's summer concert of CAMELOT (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/92931.html). But how did Jeremy get that job? Did he have to audition? If so, what was the audition like? What role did Jeremy's agent/manager play in securing the gig? What's the real difference between and agent and a manager? Does an actor need both? either? If so, why? What do agents and managers do? And how do you get one?

This is a FANTASTIC idea!! I am looking forward with much anticipation to everything that this site is going to offer! I just graduated from college with a major in theatre but as to what I do from this point forward, I could use some advice. Someone had recommended getting head shots but I do not know who I should have do them and also I am unaware of how much they normally cost. Now that's a tell-tale sign that I am a beginner at this...Anyhow, I am SO grateful that you decided to begin this website! I hear that trying to 'make it' on Broadway has nothing to do with talent- is this true? Do you really have to know someone on the inside to get anywhere in this business? I look forward to the many blogs that are to come....

Thanks. Yeah you need headshots. I'll get into that soon. As for whether 'making it' has anything to do with talent--I believe it does, although some people would argue with me. Of course if your father is Francis Ford Coppola (Sophia Coppola) it helps :)
