It's Over

The Light in the Piazza went out last Sunday afternoon July 2nd, 2006. And my heart was broken.

It never dimmed. It never flickered.

In fact, as we approached the final performance, it brightened. And when the orchestra played its first notes of the overture, those of us standing in the vom looking up at the Light, oh the light, felt it burn with surreal intensity.

The energy of the audience was palpable...you could almost reach out into the air and brush your hand through it.

The rest is a blur of tears and thrilling theater. A day, a show, a year I'll never forget.

Thank you to all the fans who reached out to me and the cast over the last 10 months to tell us how Piazza affected your lives. You have no idea how inspiring you were.

This was magical. This was theater at its finest. Those of us who were fortunate to experience it onstage or off will forever hold a place in our heart for these characters, this story, the music, and the light.

May we only be so blessed to experience something with so much heart and truth in the theater again in our lives.

Aaron,
Congrats on a fantastic run with a show that poeple absolutely loved. The show was gorgeous and whether people saw it once or ten times, they were lucky to have gotten to see it.
Best of luck with upcoming projects and wth whatever you do (hopefully some relaxing) before Les Mis.

Congratulations, Aaron! Well deserved success for a whole year for you and the rest of The Light of the Piazza cast. I saw the great musical last year on September in NYC, and it became one of my top favorites of all time. I listen to the CD almost every week sooth the tiring day from work. I will be waiting for the touring cast here in California soon. Best of luck in the upcoming Les Mis. Take it easy for now. Congrats again!

aaron, i saw piazza 6 times, including closing....the show was always beautiful, and as an actor i admired the work that was being done because nothing was ever the same---always fresh, always looked like people were trying new approaches---lovely. closing was one of the most amazing experiences i have ever had---i was on the 5th row right at the top of the exit stairs stage left, and was so involved i didn't even bite my nails (that's a huge thing). there was an energy i have NEVER felt in an audience before, just so much love coming from both ends it was amazing. anyway, this is kind of rambling, i i am going to get back to the colbert report....i just want to say thank you for an amazing job, your dedication to your craft is obvious and admirable....i will miss piazza, but feel very blessed that i was able to see it as much as i did....i look forward to les mis...my friend nehal is in it as well, should be interesting....

Aaron,
Congratulations on a wonderful achievement. I saw the show with both Patty and Victoria in the leads and loved both interpretations. Each different, and a different show from the entire cast each night. Fabulous! The show proved to be and do what great art is supposed to. Sounds like you feel the enormity of the opportunity and the experience. That feeling of heartbreak and loss at the end....YES. An uplifting and a mourning. Thank you for your hard work and devotion to the craft.

I was there on sunday afternoon and it was the most amazing performance I had ever seen. I saw the show 5 times, including the last show, and I had never had a reaction to the show as I did on sunday. I was shaking and sobbing so hard. You were a fantastic Fabrizio, I saw you 4/5 times and the whole cast was amazing. I met you in June about 2 weeks before the last show as well. I wish you the BEST of luck post-Piazza. It was a true gem of a show and I'm so sad that it closed.
