To the Fans:
So rumors are flying that I'm often out of the show. To those who've missed me, my sincerest apologies.
Back in November of the run I herniated a disc in my neck during the show. I didn't realize the severity and exact nature of the injury and pushed on through December without seeing a doctor. When I did, and got an MRI, I was told I had to get on steroids, change some 'o-graphy' in my show, and do PT 3/week for 3 months. Over that time I missed about 2 weeks worth of performances. And since, sometimes when the nerve swells , I have to miss a show. Singing on steroids is a NO-NO. It's very frustrating to not be at 100%. And I have to protect myself from re-injury.
Then a few weeks ago I got the flu. And I missed some shows.
Performing is a challenge that I have always believed requires %150 percent of my being. Audiences deserve nothing less. Unfortunately, with the demands of Broadway schedules, and the time of year, it's difficult to maintain being 100% healthy. And with Enjolras, the challenge is even more acute. Les Miz is not a play. There is no dialogue. We're performing an opera 8 times a week. An Enjolras who can't sing the cast and audience into a revolution with power, authority, and heated passion with every cell of his being is no leader. And audiences deserve better.
As winter melts away, I hope to see you all at the barricades! And stay healthy!

I missed you when I went to see Les Miz, I was so sad. I wanna see you as Enjolras again- if I can get the money to go again. I saw you the first time I ever saw Les Miz and I have to say you blew my sicks off- Enjolras has always been a favorite of mine.
I hope your neck heals soon! (It must be really annoying)>_<
Aaron,
Could you tell us why singing on steroids is bad?
Also, who is your current voice coach?
Lori
First things first and health is always a priority, no matter what you do for a living. Take care of yourself and I am sure you will be on your 150% soon!
I think it's so important you discuss this. I don't get why so many fans don't understand that they're better off seeing an understudy who's healthy than someone who's not feeling well.
What's up with the cast changes? I saw an article and actually got a little teary-eyed when I saw all the changes . What do you plan on doing next?
Sad to hear that you're leaving, but definitely take care of yourself -- that's more important than anything else. I'm sure I'll be up to NYC at least a few more times over the next weeks to see the show. :)
Take care,
-Jenn
I watched Les Miz with 2 of my friends yesterday 7pm March 20 2007, orchestra 1st row. And may I just say- THAT YOU WERE MESMERIZING! and after reading your entry about being sick and YET GIVING A wonderful performance, Im afraid I fell in love with you a little more! Right after watching you in Les Miz, I was ready to start my own revolution! You were THAT GOOD!
I'm so sad I won't get to see you! You were one of the main reasons I bought a ticket . . . for June.
I had no idea. I saw you in a Wed matinee a week ago and thought you (and everyone else!) were wonderful, full of passion as I can imagine Enjolras would be. Best wishes
