Town Hall Broadway By the Year
Thanks to all of you who came out to our Broadway By the Year 1938 concert last night! It was truly a wonderful evening.
Basically we actors learned/rehearsed/memorized the music over the course of 1 week of rehearsals. Emily Skinner, our director extraordinaire, helped shape our material with some great staging; and then we "tech" the afternoon of, and go up in front of the one-night only audience that evening.
It was incredible to perform music from 'an era gone by' composed by the greats--Porter, Weill...and the lesser known greats Fain, Lewine...with some of Broadway and Cabaret's greatest talents.
We were accompanied by a fantastic quartet of instruments led by the incomparable Ross Patterson. And certain numbers were unmic'd--brought to the audience as they were intended to be heard 70 years ago. I had the opportunity to perform unmic'd for the Act I finale. What a rush!
Thanks to the Siegel's for such a memorable experience in the theater!
And for those of you who missed it, check out the next Broadway By the Year 1959 dir. by Marc Kudish on Monday April 30th.

OK! Now I know when the next one is, do we know where? I am happy you had such a wonderful time, glad to read that you absolutely love what you do!
Aaron, great show on Friday 3/30..my husband and I were thrilled to say hello to you at the box office and afterwards in the lobby. Your talent is only exceeded by your good looks! Good luck with your next project...we'll be watching out! Have a happy passover!
Aaron, I saw the show on Friday 4/13, for a second time. I saw it the first time on February 7th, a cold Wednesday show, and despite the empty seats, i felt the thrill of the fight and fell in love with the story. So my father wanted to give me a great gift, and there was none better for me than to see it a second time. He had seen it a while ago and decided that we should go again. I knew that you, and others, were leaving soon so we made the decision to come. It was a very last minute decision, like 2:00 in the morning on Friday, but we were so lucky to get two tickets. When we got to the box office, we found out that we had gotten the last two seats available and the show was completely sold out! But it was the best last-second decision I have ever made...the second time did not disappoint!
But the real luck of the whole situation is that we got to see a rare beauty, a performance where nothing was disappointing and everything was flawless. The cast was amazing, Lea was great in her role as Fantine, but i was again blown away by your performance. Just like the show, YOU do not disappoint! The show will be losing a gifted performer when you leave, and it is sad to see you go. But I know that whatever role you take later will be stunning as well and I will not hesitate to see you in whatever role you step into.
Thank you for a repeat perfect performance.
Amazing performance last Thursday 4/12! Nice meeting you.
