How is it we live in the greatest country in the world and yet when it comes to election day, it's as if we're voting in a 3rd world country?!
In Manhattan today, (Manhattan, not GUAM) voting was a joke. I walked into my regional voting site, dealt with a few volunteers who couldn't spell my name correctly despite it being in front of them on a list and my license (ARRON, no AARRON, no ARRAN, no AARON!!!), and then was given simple instructions on how to use the rickety primitive voting booth. Pull lever to Right. Vote. Pull Lever to left. Unfortunately, when I tried to pull the handle to the left after voting it wouldn't budge. Then i spotted a small box under the candidates names labeled "release lever". So i checked that and the lever released. But I got worried that i had possibly erased my votes by checking that extra box. So i asked a volunteer if I had screwed up, and perhaps i needed to vote again, but she just smiled and said, "Ok, thank you bye now," as if she didn't speak English.
Anyone else have any great voting stories? I have friends who were not even ID'd after giving their address!!!
